How to Create a Word Search Puzzle with Word Search Maker?

To create a custom puzzle using the Word Search Maker, follow these steps to build and style your worksheet:

1. Access the Tool

You can open the generator by clicking “Start Now” on the specialized landing page or by hovering over the “Create Worksheet” menu in the header and selecting “Word Search Maker”.

2. Build Your Word List

Worksheetzone offers three ways to add content to your puzzle:

  • Preloaded Sets: Select from curated topics like animals, weather, or holidays.
  • Manual Entry: Type or paste your own words directly (limit of 12 characters per word).
  • AI Generation: Use the AI assistant to create a list based on a prompt, such as “10 ocean-themed words”.

3. Customize the Layout

You can adjust the difficulty and style of your grid:

  • Grid Shape: Choose from a standard square or fun themed shapes like stars, hearts, or pumpkins.
  • Directions: Select which directions words can be hidden: horizontal, vertical, diagonal, or reversed.
  • Grid Size: Pick a Small, Medium, or Large grid based on the number of words and the student’s level.

4. Visual Enhancements

Personalize the worksheet by adding a title, instructions, or themed clipart and icons. You can also apply decorative backgrounds and change font colors to make the activity more engaging.

5. Finalize and Share

Once the puzzle is ready, click “Save” to add a title, description, and grade level. From there, you can download it as a PDF, assign it directly to your WSZ Classie roster, or host it as a Live Game
