How to Assign Online Exercises and Track Student Progress
Overview of Assign Online Worksheets
The Assign Online Worksheets feature on Worksheetzone allows teachers to send assignments directly to students and track their progress in one place.
You can assign both Interactive Worksheets and Printable PDF Worksheets using the same workflow.
The key difference between these two formats is how grading is handled:
- Interactive Worksheets are auto-graded
- Printable PDF Worksheets are graded manually or with AI support
Step-by-Step Guide to Assigning a Worksheet
Step 1: Select a Worksheet
Start by choosing the worksheet you want to assign:
- Browse your My Library or the Explore tab
- Click Assign to begin setup
Step 2: Configure Assignment Settings
After selecting the worksheet, customize the assignment details:
- Title: Name the assignment
- Start Date and Due Date: Control availability
- Time Limit: Set a completion time (optional)
- Allowed Attempts: Choose how many times students can submit
These settings apply to both PDF and Interactive assignments.
Step 3: Choose Feedback and Grading Method
This is where PDF and Interactive assignments differ.
Interactive Worksheets (Auto-Graded)
- Student answers are graded automatically
- You can choose:
- Instant feedback after each question, or
- Full report shown only after submission
- Scores and results are available immediately in reports
Printable PDF Worksheets (Manual or AI-Assisted Grading)
- Students complete the worksheet offline or digitally
- Grading is not automatic
- Teachers can:
- Review and grade submissions manually, or
- Use AI to assist with evaluation and feedback
This option is ideal for handwriting practice, open-ended responses, or paper-based work.
Step 4: Share the Assignment with Students
Once the assignment is ready, share it using any of these methods:
- Direct assignment link
- Unique join code
- QR code
- Integration with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams
Students can access the worksheet on any device.
Tracking Student Progress
Real-Time Monitoring
After students begin working, you can track progress in the Report tab:
- Assignment completion rates
- Submission status
- Participation overview
Performance Insights (Interactive Worksheets)
For auto-graded interactive assignments, reports include:
- Average scores
- Correct vs. incorrect responses
- AI-generated insights showing:
- Difficult questions
- Topics that may need reteaching
This allows you to give immediate feedback or adjust instruction quickly.
Monitoring PDF Assignments
For printable PDF assignments, reports focus on:
- Who has submitted the work
- Completion tracking
Grading and detailed feedback are added by the teacher after review.
