Description
What It Is:
This Living and Nonliving Things – Write the Names worksheet helps students classify items by writing their names into two categories: Living Things and Nonliving Things. With illustrated objects such as a tree, cat, rabbit, turtle, flower, lamp, hat, and more, learners practice identifying living characteristics while building early science vocabulary and categorization skills.
It follows the previous activity “Living and Non-Living – Classification Boxes” and prepares students for the next worksheet “Circle All Living Things”, which reinforces recognition skills through visual identification.
Why Use It:
This worksheet helps young learners:
• Understand the characteristics of living things (movement, growth, reproduction, sensitivity, etc.)
• Strengthen sorting and classification skills
• Build science vocabulary by writing item names
• Develop observation skills through picture-based learning
How to Use It:
• Students look at each picture and decide whether it is living or nonliving.
• They write the names in the correct column at the bottom of the worksheet.
• Teachers can use this as an introductory science activity, center task, assessment, or homework.
