How to Use It
Use before a Black History Month read-aloud or informational text lesson to pre-teach key vocabulary — students who locate a word first are primed to recognize it in context. Use after a unit as a low-stakes review that surfaces retention gaps: watch for students who struggle to locate names like Harriet Tubman or Thurgood Marshall — those students may need additional background knowledge support. Expected completion time: 10–15 minutes for most Grade 4–6 students; allow 20 minutes for students who need extended time.
