What is Halloween?

Halloween is an annual celebration that takes place on the 31st of October. The customs evolved alongside the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain. On Samhain, people would dress up in costumes and lit bonfires to scare off spirits. In the 18th century, Pope Gregory III proclaimed November 1st as All Saints Day. Samhain rituals were eventually absorbed into All Saints Day. All Hallows Eve was the night before Halloween. It evolved into Halloween over time. Halloween has evolved into a day filled with festivities, particularly for youngsters, who would travel about to trick or treat. Carving jack-o-lanterns, dressing up in costumes, and eating goodies were among the most prominent rituals that arose. People put candles on the graves of the deceased as a religious practice. This is one of my favorite times of the year.
